GSC Gym Chalk

Use Smart Leverage to Enhance Your Grip

What Is GSC Gym Chalk?

Overview:

GSC Gym Chalk blocks are extra brittle, even more so than Chalkness Monster chalk blocks making it convenient to directly apply it to your hands. It has soft, cushy texture. Price of this product has gone up rapidly because there’s rather large demand for it. Good chalk, a lot of folks like it.

Manufacturer claims this brand to be specifically good choice for gymnastics or weight lifting. I’d say it’s convenient for barbell lifting & gets the job done. If you’re rock climber this is probably not the most effective chalk you’re looking for. I’ve heard from climbers that it performs well enough, but is not quite as strong & sticky as more expensive brands.

For casual gym goer here’s probably a lifetime worth of chalk here. Like most gym chalk, it’s magnesium carbonate which is good at absorbing moisture. Does exactly what you need from proper chalk, reinforces your grip. Makes your grip feel sticky enough so bar won’t slip. Crumble a block into ziplock bags & you’re ready to hit the gym.

What are the Pros & Cons with Block-Style Chalk?

Wastes Less & Lasts Longer

Pros:

  • Smart Leverage to Improve Grip – It’s simple physics, the key is to add extra friction between your hands & the object you want to lift
  • Removes Moisture From Hands – The more intense your workout regime is, the more your hands are going to sweat. Chalk helps to dry up sweat
  • Can be Broken Into Powder – Conveniently packed in blocks, you can broke it down into powder shape
  • Block-Chalk is Typically Less Expensive – It’s the most basic, traditional form of chalk. It’s usually less expensive overall due to being sold in larger quantities than other types of chalk
  • Good Choice For Most Athletes – Suitable for powerlifters, bodybuilders, weight lifters, rock climbers, cross fitters, weekend warriors.
  • Conveniently Packed – Usually block type of chalk is being shipped in larger box but the content is broken down into smaller blocks that are ready for use
  • 100% Magnesium Carbonate – Simple can be the best & in most cases all you need – High quality gym chalk for removing moisture from hands, securing grip
  • Lasts Longer, Wastes Less – Using individual chalk packages & small blocks alleviate messy loose chalk, making it waste less & last longer

Cons:

  • Excessive Use Damages Skin – This applies to any type of chalk. You need to wash your hands properly each & every time after using chalk. This is no joke, as a drying agent, it will eventually damage your palms of hands in case you don’t clean them thoroughly
  • Known to Cause Mess – Most commercial gyms won’t allow using loose chalk in their facilities. Block chalk is a bit friendlier & cleaner solution but still. Your hands get covered with excess chalk & also the equipment you’re using. Situation can get messy
  • Some Complaints About This Product – If you get an old, mouldy pack of chalk that has clearly been sitting in storage for years, please send it back & ask for proper one. It happens rarely, but it is possibility.
